SAKE SUSHI
SHREVEPORT, LAOne day before my birthday, and one day after Master Dragon placed 1st at Grapplers Quest, I had only one wish. That being that the new sushi spot in town, Sake Sushi, would be delicious. See, I’m not lucky like the Dragon, I live in Shreveport which is not exactly the home of great sushi. He’s out in Vegas, one of the sushi capitals of America. So I generally have to travel out of town to get some good playtime, and that’s ok because I’m a Nomad, but every now and then you just want to drive down the block and enjoy some high quality sushi. This is what I’ve been lacking, this is what I’ve longed for, but with any luck Sake Sushi could remedy this, and make this birthday a good one.
Sake Sushi is located in the fairly new shopping center Regal Court on Youree Drive - a great location! As soon as you walk through the door, you can’t help but notice how they went all out on this place. There is a true vibe of Japan throughout this classy and modern restaurant. A huge mural of Mount Fuji surrounded by cherry blossoms decorates the front entrance and inside there is a large fountain with water flowing, black lacquer walls and floors, plenty of Japanese art and the most important part - an awesome sushi bar - what more do you need? What excites me the most is I see only Asian chefs making the sushi, as well as all of the servers seem to be of Asian descent. Never underestimate the importance of that, you don’t want Gary from Ruston making your sushi, it usually never works out the way you want it to.
Master Tea Flowers and I start our order with the nigiri sampler, which consisted of 5 pieces of assorted sushi to get us going. The sampler included Red Snapper, Salmon, White Tuna, Tuna, and Himachi. Every piece was very tasty and fresh and the presentation of the dish on a bamboo leaf was quite nice too. After a discussion with the waitress I decide on my order of rolls. I order the Rocky II Roll and the Tiger Roll. The Tiger roll was made of salmon, tuna, avocado inside, and topped with salmon, tuna, eel, masago, and scallions and eel sauce. Again, the fish inside was very fresh and flavorful. It all blended very well together for a good flavor combination. Now the Rocky II Roll on the other hand is one of those rolls that I call a diet breaker. Meaning if you’re on a diet, don’t start thinking about it, because you’ll have to go get one. This bad boy was stuffed with two pieces of shrimp tempura, snowcrab, avocado, masago, and then wrapped in a soy sheet with eel sauce on top. I was going to order another it was so good but Master Tea Flowers suggested that I get something different so I did. The waitress suggested to me the Maple roll. Again, delicious. This one consisted of tempured crab stick and it was topped with salmon and eel sauce. Spicy sauce was placed around the roll and a huge mound of snow crab sat in the middle of the plate. I liked this because you could dip into the spicy sauce. A good thing because the sauce had a lot of heat to it.
I have to mention that this was only the 4th day the restaurant had been opened, but you would never know it because they have got it together. With their superior service and staff expertise, you would think this place had been around a long time. Kudos to the staff for being a top notch establishment. It was such a pleasant experience unlike another sushi restaurant’s opening in this area recently.
I am already thinking about my next visit to Sake Sushi. The waitress mentioned there was also a Rocky I, III and IV, which were not on the menu. This makes me ponder how many secret rolls Sake has up their sleeves! Shreveport is lucky to have gotten this sushi restaurant!
Sake Sushi All Rolled Up
The quality, price and freshness of the sushi in this restaurant cannot be beat by any other in town.
Their prices are very affordable, which is a good thing because any sushi lover
would want to sample everything they offer. Sake Sushi is now a weekly visit spot for me
and I’m willing to bet it will soon become a local favorite.

Well I've been going to Sake Sushi about once a week since my review. After trying more rolls and different nigiri, i have increased my grade to 4.5 dragons. Sake Sushi is flat out a great sushi spot.
