It's called a Sushi Drunk: it's when you eat so much sushi that while
walking out to find your car you find yourself unable to walk a
straight line. Every time I go to I LOVE SUSHI I walk out with a Sushi
Drunk. If I could afford it I would Play at I LOVE SUSHI everyday, it's
that good. No all you can eat and a hefty roll menu makes this place my
favorite spot thus far in the Las Vegas and Henderson area.
When you first walk in you're struck by the size of the sushi bar, the Japanese decor, and the bustling sound of people talking while enjoying their feast. I've come during the day so it's more tame in here, but let it be known in the evening it's packed, the chefs are engaging and will gladly have a drink with you. Today I come alone, ready to attack, ready to pillage, ready to get my Play Time on. Because I've been here before, I don't wait for the hostess to great and seat me, but walk right up to an open spot at the sushi bar. I know the drill, she knows I know the drill, and without missing a beat she brings me out the customary hot moist towel and takes my drink order. I take the moist towel and cleans my hands, preparing them as would a Samurai warrior who has blood on his hands after a days battle. The sushi chef peers down at me ready to do battle, so we begin. I immediately order 4 pieces of Garlic Tuna nigiri, 2 pieces of Chutoro (Big Eye Tuna), and one Double D roll. The Garlic Tuna arrives first in all it's splendor, thick cuts of Big Eye Tuna draping over the rice as if hiding it from daylight and wading in a shallow pool of the chefs special garlic sauce. Then comes the Chutoro, but today it comes with a slice of avocado on top, although not a fan of the avocado slice combined with Chutoro, I engage the dish none the less. I am tempted to move further with more orders of nigiri, but with such an amazing selection of rolls at I LOVE SUSHI I resist.
The Double D is the next to come out. This roll consists of: shrimp tempura, cucumber, crab, topped with spicy salmon, avocado, and masago, and it hugs a mini-bowl of the chefs special sauce for you to dip each piece. Each time I come to I LOVE SUSHI, I have either the Double D Roll or the Ryans Special they are both similar in content and equally delicious. As this roll is passed over the sushi bar to me, I place an order for a Garlic Butter Special. This is a new roll for me, and I quickly realize the garlic is a little too much for me as it overtakes the flavors of the other combinations within the roll and the crunch flakes get me too full too quickly. The Garlic Butter Special is made up of: spicy crab, avocado, shrimp tempura, baked halibut on top with crunch flakes and garlic butter. I survey my surroundings, take a sip of my water with lemon and look up at the chef and see that he hasn't even broken a sweat, so I think to myself: The Battle is Not Over! I order a Kim Chi roll and this brings a huge smile to James Choe my Korean sushi chef and I think the guy that runs the restaurant. He peers down at me with a huge smile and says, "You like Kim Chi?", "I do!" I shoot back hopeing that I like HIS kim chi. It's the second time I've had this roll, the other time being at Oyshi Sushi in Las Vegas and I loved it. As James hands me the 5 piece roll I begin to replenish my soy sauce and he politely tells me not to use any sauce because it's full of flavor itself. He's right, within the roll I find: Korean spicy napa cabbage and seaweed salad, eel, masago, and yamagoba and the nori on the outside. It's very tastey, not very refreshing but does taste just like what you think kim chi would taste like wrapped with seaweed and rice. I finish the last cut of this roll and realize the battle has ended, my sword is put up, and my stomach is full...I have ended up in a state of Sushi Drunk and I am ok with it.
I LOVE SUSHI All Rolled Up:
Don't walk out less than full you may miss your next favorite thing. A sushi drunk I have, a sushi drunk you must have after doing battle here.
